During my working life I worked in many different areas since I was not willing to be waiting for a job only in my field of study (graduated in Human Resources Management).
After completing my graduation I had the opportunity to work in my area of study for more than one year, but after that ended I had to find another job, because the project where I was involved also ended.
Meanwhile, while most of my University colleagues were only applying for jobs in our area, I was also trying to find a job in other areas, since for me the most important thing was to achieve my financial independence...
So, and since the job market presents more opportunities in the Sales/Commercial area, I obviously ended up working there. That was not a thing that satisfied me completely, but actually I was successful at it...and so I was collecting experience in different companies in the Sales/Commercial/Management Department and in different markets (Insurance, Real Estate, Design, etc...).
Then, I finally had the opportunity to work in my area of study, and I decided to switch job - even earning less money - but I was delighted to finally be able to work in my area of expertise. Unfortunately, it turned out that after a short period, the company transferred me to the Sales/Commercial department...
Well, after this huge personal disappointment I decided to leave the company and I thought that if I was “condemned” to work in Sales, then I would sell for myself... and so it was: In October/November 2008 I opened my own company in the Marketing/Advertisement area...and I made it. I had global clients like Nestlé, Becel, Planta (Rama in Germany) and also dealing with important communication agencies like Initiative, Ogilvy, Zenith Optimedia, Starcom Mediavest...my bet was investing in alternative means of getting the client’s message through to the potential consumer beyond the traditional/usual means, avoiding direct fight with the big old sharks already on the market and trying to grab the opportunity by sailing in uncharted seas...
So there I was during 4 and something years, successfully running my company...and although it may sound curious that after having my best company year ever (2012), I left to Berlin to start all over again...but I decided to take that risk and move to Berlin due to personal reasons...
Of course I faced many difficulties, mostly due to the fact that I didn’t know the German (the language, my biggest and precious tool was simply gone...). Obviously, I started by applying for jobs that required English, one of the languages I am fully comfortable with. On top, I am a Portuguese native (useful to companies who plan
to expand to Brazil or Angola markets), and I am also absolutely comfortable in Spanish (since I have Spanish family), too.
Resuming, I am multi tasked self-starter/made man, highly motivated, and I believe I can be useful in most of the companies, if they decide to give me a chance to show my abilities.
